Volunteer

We are ALWAYS looking for passionate people to join the Wagging Dog Team! Contact us to learn more about our volunteer opportunities. It takes a bunch of dedicated people to keep a small, busy animal rescue running. Some volunteer work can even be done remotely.

Check out some of the many ways you can help below or fill-out our volunteer application and tell us about your special skill or how you’d like to help! You can email the completed application to volunteer@waggingdog.org.

Creative Writers (remote)

We need creative writers for our Facebook page! Our rescue is small but mighty and we have a busy social media presence with a large and always growing fan base. Our dedicated volunteers have full time jobs and families which makes it tough to keep up with a busy fb page. We’d like to add more talented people to our team.

Are you passionate about animals and rescue, computer savvy with mad creative writing skills? We need you! We use Google Drive and Dropbox to share info about our critters. Facebook has a scheduling tool which allows admins to donate writing time when able and schedule posts to publish when our viewers are online. Also comes in handy if a volunteer is working remotely in another time zone. Writing for our Orphans is one of the most important aspects of our rescue effort. We hope you’ll join our creative team!

Foster Coordinator (SoCal please)

Are you passionate about animals with an above average understanding of the human-animal relationship? Do you enjoy engaging with similar dog people? Do you have time to donate to WDR’s rescue effort and the drive to jump in and take on a leading role? If so, maybe our Foster Coordinator spot should be yours!

We’re a small rescue with usually under a dozen dogs in foster care at a time, occasionally with a special cat thrown in for good measure. This role is best donated by someone who’s here in SoCal with our fostered critters. You don’t have to drive to all of the fosters’ homes or anything, but we’d just like you to be nearby.

We’re searching for someone who lives DOG. Basically a dog in human skin. A foster coordinator should have above average canine savvy for obvious reasons, but should also be comfortable and confident in their feline knowledge. They should also be comfortable interfacing with people as you’ll be in close contact with our furbulous foster care providers who are spread from San Diego to Los Angeles, and now in Denver, CO! Daily email access is a must. This is a big request, so we’re automatically asking you to become part of our inner circle. We need someone who has Time and Passion to dive in and eat/sleep/live rescue with us. It’s a lot to ask, but if you’re a dog person thru and thru and this sounds like something you’d love to do, reach out! We have some of the most incredible foster parents and rescued animals, and we can honestly say that we’re all better people just for knowing each other.

Fosters (SoCal please)

Check out our Foster page to read about the various fostering needs of Wagging Dog Rescue! We need dog and cat fosters, forever/compassion fosters, and even feral cat fosters!

Barn Cat Program Coordinator (SoCal please)

We created our Barn Cat Program in summer 2018 when a serious need presented itself. It’s a great program and there aren’t too many similar rescue efforts in SoCal which is why we feel it’s so necessary, and why we branched out from solely focusing on dogs. This is not a difficult role, especially for a crazy cat person! We wish our phone lines were flooded daily with calls for feral working cats, but they aren’t. That said, we receive regular inquiries and referrals and could use some help fielding those, chatting with potential adopters, approving barn homes, coordinating feral cat rescues and deliveries, etc. C’mon! There’s gotta be some CCL’s out there besides Cassandra! Join us. Meow.

Web Help (remote)

Are you skilled with WordPress and Divi Builder? Got a little bit o’ time to help us keep our awesome new site current and running smoothly? We need your expertise to showcase our Orphans to their fullest! Please send us a volunteer app asap if you’ve got the web skills we’re searching for. Thank you!

Instagram Admin (also remote)

We need a helper or two on our IG page. This is probably the easiest volunteer role we have lol. A new IG admin will begin by copying/pasting from our Facebook page. Once you get your feet wet, if you wanna take the reins and go for a gallop on your own, great! Creative use of # is a big plus on IG. Admin would also help field any comments/questions/messages from our IG supporters.

Newsletter (also remote)

We really haven’t done much with newsletters in the 7 years we’ve been rescuing. We’ve tried but would really loooove to have some help with this. We actually have a TON of great writers in the rescue fam but we need a boss – someone to give us deadlines and tell us what to do. We’re hoping to find a volunteer who’s versed with Mailchimp, who can help design a WDR Newsletter and assign writing tasks to the restovus to make that vision come true. We have so much to say but need help getting it out there. Can you help us stay in touch with our constituents and regale the world with our amazing rescue adventures? We’d love to see regular WDR newsletters in 2019!

Fundraising (also remote)

This is a nonstop job for any charity and particularly critical for a rescue like ours that takes in dogs and cats with higher medical bills. We need people who can find creative ways to garner us some much needed dough – people who get things done, ‘Go Getters’ to get us some Barks! I mean, Bucks!! If you’d like to help with this very crucial need, please send us a volunteer app stat and let us know you’re WDR’s new money maker!

Videography (also remote)

We’d REALLY love to do more fun videos of our available critters to help them find their forever homes. If you have mad skills in the video department and the makings of a star movie producer, get in touch and let’s make some movies!! Just as a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth even more. Nothing quite captures the joy and spirit of our companion pets like a good moving picture. Help potential adopters really SEE our Wagging Dogs and Cats as a fun part of their forever families!!

Facebook Design (also remote)

Got some extra Facebook savvy? Have a FB developer account already and familiar with custom tabs and stuff? The only other thing we would need from you is a bit of your time to help us make our page supah cool! 🙂 Let us know!

Graphic Design (remote)

In a big world of dog/cat rescues and animals to adopt, we want to make sure our WDR Orphans get the best possible chance at a loving forever home. If you’ve got an eye for design and are interested in making unique eye-catching Facebook cover photos, fliers, logos, t-shirt designs and other forms of media, we’d be grateful for your talents, time and expertise. Our Orphans will be pretty grateful too 🙂 We also have a simple need for someone who can edit photos of our pack, lightening up shadows, sharpening phone pics, cropping, and adding text/logo before we upload our dog and cat pics for use. This work is best done in a fairly quick turnaround (few days vs. few weeks?), because we are always in dire need of new pics from our foster parents so we can spread the word about our available critters. If you’re artistically talented and have time to help us with any of these design needs, please contact us today!
